AIRE’s mission is to help public institutions and nonprofit organizations evaluate, develop and own solar to power their facilities and missions. Local ownership, benefit and control are the hallmarks of our vision for solar in the public interest. Further, we envision rooftop and community-scale solar being widely adopted across all sectors including public health, education, local food systems, affordable housing, faith communities, transportation, social services, and critical public infrastructure. We work with these organizations, their communities of place and practice as an independent analyst, project consultant/developer, and wayfinder, helping them integrate solar to better align financial resources with their mission and values as privatization and dispossession escalate. AIRE works with organizations on single or phased renewable energy projects. We also work with intermediary organizations who wish to integrate community-based renewable energy in their economic development and community wealth-building work in urban and rural settings. AIRE also works with impact investor funds, foundations, charitable donors and other financial entities providing a variety of related research and analysis. We are also interested in scholarly research collaborations in our field.
