Surfacemine
www.surfacemine.comSurfacemine began in 2019 as a collaboration between Renew IT and the UNSW Smartlab. Renew IT CEO James Lancaster met with Professor Veena Sahajwalla who showed James the worlds first microfactorie that had been built at the University. With James' passion for the environment and Veena's knowledge Surfacemine was born. Surfacemine's first microfactorie is being built in Lane Cove in 2022. At the microfactorie, rare earth materials are extracted, Toxins separated from the plastics and high quality polymers produced, all from e-waste to supply back into Australian manufacturing. Our approach is simple; ZERO WASTE. This is grounds breaking, industry leading technology and will change the way e-waste is processed in Australia. Our hope is to encourage manufacturing again by supplying high quality feedstock into our domestic chain. Reduce unethical procurement of materials such as cobalt and extract from our waste.
