The purpose of the Corporation is to engage in any lawful act or activity for which corporations which are organized not for profit may be organized under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (NFP Act), including, but not limited to: a) providing a foundation for open, collaborative technology development also accessible to citizens of Latin American countries b) promoting the use of technology products and services c) providing outreach and education to help more people access computing and technology development, especially among youth and underserved communities d) fostering cultural, academic exchanges and networking opportunities for Latin American technology entrepreneurs to meet with their North American peers so as to analyse, debate and actively collaborate in the creation and improvement of best practices in applications of technology for the benefit of society. e) acting as an independent legal entity to which companies and individuals can donate resources f) providing means for Latin American entrepreneurs to know how to create their business overseas and shelter their ventures against legal suits directed at technology development projects including, but not limited to, education about best practices on how North American and Latin American legal entities and individuals can structure businesses and contracts g) to form alliances and partner with organisations represented across Latin America, North America, and other regions so as to ensure the stability and success of the foundation's initiatives and projects, always under the most strict compliance to the current legislation, and the principles of mutual respect and benefit. h) the creation and maintenance of open source software distributed to the public under the terms and licenses. i) the creation and maintenance of open source hardware specifications ...
