Les Olivades
www.lesolivades.frLéonard Quinche, a fabric printer from Geneva, is at the origin of the company. In 1818, he teamed up with two Tarasconnais and created a calico factory in St Etienne du Grès, a small Provençal village located at the foot of the Alpilles. The textiles are block-printed there, washed and dried on the neighboring meadow... The company then passed from hand to hand until 1948, when it was taken over and transformed into the Société Avignonnaise d'Impression sur Tissus (SAIT ) by Pierre Boudin. In 1977, he created with the help of his wife Paule LES OLIVADES, a company still controlled and run by their children and grandchildren who have set themselves the goal: To perpetuate the ancestral art of printing on fabrics in the south of the France, while making it evolve and adapting it to current life. The Les Olivades brand was a pioneer in terms of a high-end product manufactured and sold by the same company. Les Olivades is today the only company to perpetuate in Provence the tradition of printing on fabrics born in Marseille in 1648.
