Conquer COVID-19 is a grassroots incubator, facilitating access to priority products in short supply but essential for the healthcare community. The multidisciplinary team of 70+ volunteers includes frontline healthcare workers, engineers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, medical students, and NGO members, tackling pressing issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. We take direction from frontline physicians to understand the changing needs of the healthcare system and provide solutions to address them. Our group is working quickly to source, acquire, and deliver critical products to our national heroes who are prioritizing the care of others. While our main focus is in Ontario and Quebec, we encouraging other groups to offer support to their communities as we do. Our team continues to brainstorm unconventional approaches to solving healthcare challenges. This includes the idea to use baby monitors to allow healthcare workers to monitor patients while limiting their exposure. With the help of Toys R Us, we were able to secure a donation of 125 baby monitors for hospital sites country-wide. We have also established a relationship with VTech, which has committed 200 baby monitors to ship directly to hospitals in need. We partnered with XYZ Storage (459 Eastern Avenue, Toronto) to help provide storage for items and vehicles to transport supplies, and is also the location of our weekly PPE drives (every Saturday). Volvo has generously provided 12 cars enabling our volunteer team to deliver supplies to healthcare workers. We have established our team as a conduit for medical supplies. We are connecting those who wish to donate/sell supplies with those in need of supplies. We find out what people need the most and help them get it. We have garnered the support of Canadian hockey legend, Hayley Wickenheiser, and actor Ryan Reynolds to help get the word out about the needs for PPE, encourage donations, and create awareness of our group.
