BMS Engineers - Building Membrane Solutions
www.bmse.com.auBMS Engineers is a process design company specialising in the use of membranes to treat process fluids in the mining industry. Our services include conceptual design, on site pilot plant testing, full scale design and commissioning, and off site technical support. Our expertise in membranes has seen BMS Engineers develop the world’s first uranium membrane plant, the Acid Recovery Plant (ARP) at the Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Malawi. This plant was commissioned in March 2013 and has exceeded its design acid recovery. This was followed by the worlds second uranium membrane plant, the Bicarbonate Recovery Plant (BRP) at the Langer Heinrich Mine in Namibia. Commissioned in March 2015, the BRP achieved its design bicarbonate recovery, resulting in significant cost reductions through reduced chemical use, along with lower water consumption. Utilising membrane technology, the plants recover the IX eluant fluid by concentrating the uranium eluate stream. BMS Engineers also have the exclusive rights to utilise patented Solvent Recovery Technology (developed with Paladin Energy) which can recover up to 85% of the solvent fluid. BMS Engineers work closely with specialist membrane manufacturers to develop membranes specifically suited to improving our clients process.
