The Department of Health and Exercise Science aims to be one of the top few in the U.S. This means inspiring every person here to chase personal goals of greatness while simultaneously working for the common good. We seek to lift others with us as we accomplish great things. We treat each other as family; we celebrate achievements, offer support when life gets in the way and point out when we aren't pulling our weight. HES is committed to a transformative education for every one of our 1400 undergraduates choosing to pursue concentrations in Heath Promotion or Sports Medicine. The Health Promotion concentration prepares students for careers in the field of health promotion and wellness. Sports Medicine is primarily for students planning to pursue careers in physical or occupational therapy, medicine, or go on to graduate school in Exercise Science. We also provide exceptional graduate training in the form of an M.S. in Health and Exercise Science and a Ph.D. in Human Bioenergetics. The department is home to the Human Performance Clinical/Research Laboratory, a vibrant research facility designated as a Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence at CSU. Faculty conduct research in a variety of areas centered around Optimizing Human Health and Preventing Age-related Disease. In the spirit of our land grant heritage, we provide innovative and meaningful outreach/engagement programs (e.g. Heart Disease prevention Program, Adult Fitness, Youth Sports Camps) that fit our mission and provide value to the community. Finally, we abide by the ideal that "It's our department and we run it the way we want to.” This is LinkedIn account is officially recognized by Colorado State University; however, the views and opinions expressed on this page are not necessarily those of the University.
