Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Army Cadet Force

www.lnracf.co.uk

Our aim is to provide stimulating and challenging pastimes for our young people and the Cadet Force Motto is to “inspire to achieve”. Our cadets participate in a wide variety of activities which range from military training (including living outdoors), citizenship training, full bore and small bore shooting and a range of sporting activities which include, swimming, cross country, football and tug of war to name but a few. Many have the chance to earn sporting colours at County, District and National level. They will be taught St John Ambulance skills and be encouraged to join the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and BTec Schemes. The latter three are all recognized civilian qualifications and will be very useful to our young people, whatever career path they choose to follow. All have the opportunity to take part in weekend training events and, providing they fulfill the required criteria, can attend our Annual Camp at Thetford for one week. We also organise an annual skiing trip to Italy and there are opportunities for some to represent us on the ACFA Canada Exchange Programme. 2010 was a very busy and successful year for us and despite the challenging times ahead, I am quite sure that both the volunteers and the cadets will rise to the occasion and make 2011 equally so.
