Friends of Roots has been established to further the advancement of education through research, documentation, and archiving of Asian American genealogy and cultural heritage. Our flagship program, Roots: Him Mark Lai Family History Project (麥禮謙尋根項目), is a program in which Chinese American young adults research their family history and genealogy, study Chinese history and geography, learn about the Chinese American community, and visit their ancestral villages in Guangdong province.
