ka-ru (kaa roo) “Refers to one who acts, carries out an action or gives form to action”. KAARU is a collaboration of Design, Architecture, Art, Management and Manufacturing professionals who have come together to work with traditional Master Artists, Wisdom keepers and Story tellers of this land, living and practicing their art as a Sculptor, Painter, Metalworker, Inlayer, Weaver, Woodworker, Clay- worker and many more living legends from across India. KAARU was founded by Anjalee Wakankar and Sanjib Chatterjee in the year 2000 with an ethos with which design and art are engaged, as a way of living. While stylizing the Interior spaces, creating Architecture or providing a bespoke collection of Furniture, KAARU dissolves the barriers between art, design, time and space. By doing so, an experience of space tends to become expansive, joyful and memorable in everyday living rather than being just functionally useful or even trendy and short-lived. With eighteen years of work in Interior Design, Furniture, Installations, Architecture and landscaping, KAARU’s design spectrum is spread over Residential, Corporate, Museum, Institutional and unique event projects. It has the support of over 200 traditional artists from all over India along with its own internal teams of skilled workers Architects & Designers, and its own R&D studio in New Delhi. KAARU’s work is also represented in UK & Tokyo.
