Samudhyoga Waste Chakra is a clean tech company specialized in designing and manufacturing advanced circular economy technology that derives value out of waste. Established in 2019, we are currently incubated in IIT-Madras incubation cell. We initiated our endeavours by researching end-of-life waste and identified bottlenecks in waste processing. Through our rigorous research, we found that ‘Decentralisation’ and ‘technology-driven systems’ are required to solve complex issues associated with waste processing. Our first product ‘Decentralized Plastic Pyrolysis Unit’ was appreciated by all the stakeholders. With grant support from Engineers India Limited, we are establishing our first large scale plant for the South Chennai Corporation. As we expanded our scope of waste to include waste-water, we realised urinals consume a lot of water and discharge nutrients leading to eutrophication in water bodies. To solve this, we designed ‘Ecofert’ a product to recover water and green chemicals from undiluted urine. Both the products have received awards and funding from several reputed organizations such as Engineers India Limited (EIL), Carbon zero challenge, Innovative India growth program (IIGP), Climate Launch Pad. We are committed to developing systems that would empower communities in solving long-drawn challenges through a participatory approach. Our efforts are in coherence with fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), particularly SDG 11(Sustainable cities and communities), SDG13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life below water).
