Himalayan Yoga Academy is one of the most progressive schools in Rishikesh, the world's capital of yoga. The name of our school, Academy, corresponds to our name mission: to create an educational establishment, where seekers would learn all aspects of yoga, both theoretically and practically. For this, we have created a board of our staff teachers which no other school in Rishikesh can boast of. We have gathered teachers who are professionals in their field of yoga, so that our students could learn different practices and styles from the first hands. We're not guru centered school, that means there is no one man teaching all aspects of yoga. At the same time, we preserve the model of gurukul, an institution where guru-sadhaka mode of teaching/learning is practiced. However, Academy means variety of subjects, with every subject being taught by a teacher who has researched and practiced this very subject for many years. Our main goal is to create experience, to facilitate our students in applying knowledge in their practice and get real insights about the goals of yoga and nature of reality. For this, we have both strong theoretical approach (gaining the knowledge) and very sold practical part (applying the knowledge in students' own practice). With such approach we're nurturing yoga teachers of new generation: open-minded, creative and brave, but with very solid understanding, both intellectual and practical, of what they are teaching.
