Melbourne Theatre Company is where stories come alive. For 70 years the Company has created exceptional theatre, sharing the power of live storytelling with generations of Australians. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Anne-Louise Sarks and Executive Director Virginia Lovett, MTC embodies the creative spirit that Melbourne and Victoria are renowned for, bringing remarkable theatre to the fore to inspire, entertain, challenge and enrich the lives of audiences. As one of Australia’s flagship performing arts companies, MTC produces classic and contemporary Australian and international theatre for today and tomorrow, with excellence, imagination and passion. The Company has over 20,000 subscribers and stages over 630 performances annually. Through its mainstage season, tours, education productions, public readings and other events, MTC reaches more than 220,000 attendances each year. MTC employs approximately 90 permanent staff and around 400 casuals each year, in a variety of creative and administrative departments at our Company headquarters and at Southbank Theatre, which are both located in Melbourne's Southbank cultural precinct. As the state theatre company of Victoria, MTC is an important part of the cultural landscape and plays a special role in the lives of thousands of Australians.
