Crystal Clear Ears was established in 2008 by Shelley Straw, a Registered Nurse who worked at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne. During her time at RVEEH she saw the need for a clinic dedicated to professional wax removal & aural care using the technique of Microsuction. Crystal Clear Ears was the first clinic of its type in Australia and is modeled on similar nurse-led private ear clinics in New Zealand & United Kingdom. Shelley was the sole ear nurse practitioner until 2011 and set herself the goal of training nurses in this technique and expanding the number of clinics in Victoria. Crystal Clear Ears have a team of 16 ear nurses at clinics throughout Melbourne & Victoria, led by Shelley as Managing Director. In 2013 Crystal Clear Ears wrote and developed a course in Micro-Suction and Aural Hygiene which was nationally accredited by the national regulator for vocational education (ASQA) In 2016, Crystal Clear Ears were able to issue national accredited certification by our own registered training organisation who was accredited to meet all the standards required under the education and training framework (AQF) and by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) (RTO No: 45008)
