www.tljcf.orgAlmarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil was diagnosed with Liver Cancer at the age of 24 years old, in August 2014 after having a surgery at Gleneagles Hospital and Medical Centre. A month later, he was transferred to Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru for further treatment and underwent a liver transplant at The First Affliated Hospital of Sun-Yat-Sen University in Guangdong, China in December 2014. During Almarhum’s recovery, the compassionate prince continued visiting cancer patients at the Oncology Centre and Cancer Ward in Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru. Listening to the patients and sharing stories, experiences and daily struggles living as a cancer survivor, it was his desire to help provide comfort, strength and relief for other patients that inspired the formation of TLJCF. Realising that the procedures and astronomical medical expenses are putting a strain on cancer patients and their families, he shared his concerns and plans with his father, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, The Sultan of Johor who concurred with the idea. Thus, with the full support of the entire royal family, The Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation was established under the supervision of the Johor State Government on June 25th 2015.
