At HEMBOO we are dedicated to bringing non-conventional bio-based materials to the forefront of the construction sector by making them easy and affordable to use. We are developing a prefabricated façade element of natural materials hemp and bamboo that can substitute prefabricated concrete elements commonly used in construction. This is important because concrete is responsible for ca 7% of global CO2. For each HEMBOO element used, we can save 80% of the CO2 cost of the common concrete alternative. Bamboo is fast-growing and has strong structural capabilities. Hempcrete has good hygrothermal properties, is pest-resistant and allows for better indoor climates. With this innovative combination of materials, we make a structural panel that is not only more climate-friendly but also creates better living conditions. We know the construction sector can be hard to reach. That's why we focus on making an element that fits into existing construction processes at a competitive price point.
