The association was founded on 3 May 2004 in Zagreb and is open to its members and those to yet become. The vision of PMI Croatia is to be the initiator of change and the most important actor in developing the quality of projects and productivity when managing projects; also to organize relevant events, to connect relevant individuals within project management, and to be a partner when representing the field. The Project Management Institute is the world’s leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, program and portfolio management profession. PMI delivers value to more than 2.9 million professionals working in nearly every country in the world through global advocacy, collaboration, education and research. PMI advances careers, improves organizational success and further matures the profession of project management through its globally recognized standards, certifications, resources, tools, academic research, publications, professional development courses, and networking opportunities. The Institute issues the PMBOK® guide and standard for project management, which is printed in more than 5 million copies. These standards provide a foundation for project management knowledge and represent the four areas of the profession: project, program, portfolio and the organizational approach to project management. They are the foundation on which practice standards and industry-specific extensions are built.
