Science Ceilidh
www.scienceceilidh.comThe Science Ceilidh is an award-winning educational organisation supporting creativity, culture, STEM, research and health and wellbeing across Scotland along with a professional ceilidh band. Our vision is to support a Scotland where everyone is confident and valued for their creativity, skills and questions, and are more equitably engaged in education, research and cultural participation on their own terms. Through this, we believe this supports active citizenship, inclusive and kinder communities and better health and wellbeing. We do this through relationship-centered working, long-term partnerships and evidence-based and reflective practice, and practicing generous leadership through building communities of practice, offering training and consultancy, and the development of openly available resources sharing practice, strategies, learnings and tools. Our community programmes have involved participants from across Scotland through partnerships - from exploring gaelic bilingualism & health, memory & music or creativity & wellbeing with rural communities and unpaid carers across Scotland, New Scots in Edinburgh, young people with additional support needs, disadvantaged youth groups with our Curiosity Club and a long-term science residency with Leith Labs, to participate and share arts, science and culture together. We also facilitate the Culture & Wellbeing community network Scotland group supporting a community of practice involving community groups, cultural organisations, libraries and researchers. Our education programme has inspired over 25,000 learners in both primary and high schools, along with training thousands of educators, to explore interdisciplinary learning and actively break career stereotypes and advocate for diversity and equity. We are committed to support and embed explicitly anti-racist perspectives and curriculums throughout our work including through new partnerships with the Anti-Racist Educator.
