Studies have linked drug shortages to increased mortality rates and inordinate healthcare spending, and the FDA Drug Shortage Task Force report published in 2019 found an inability to identify and reward manufacturers for manufacturing investments to be a major root cause of shortages. Inspired by successful rating systems in other industries, RISCS, Inc. has developed an independent, standardized rating system that certifies the supply chain sustainability standards practiced by manufacturers of critical medications. Given that shortages involve many different stakeholders, we solicit and implement feedback from all relevant parties, including Group Purchasing Organizations, Hospitals, Manufacturers, Governmental Agencies, Wholesalers and others.
