Charlottesville Community Bikes is a nonprofit bicycle shop that promotes environmentally-sound transportation, recycles bicycles, and makes cycling accessible in Charlottesville, VA. We believe bicycles can be a means to social change, addressing issues of equity, access, and inclusion. What we do: - Provide free bikes to adults in need through our Voucher Bike Program - Provide free bikes 24" or under to kids 12 and under - Serve as an educational facility to empower patrons to service and maintain their own bikes. -Refurbish bikes for affordable bikes for all -Bicycle repairs and classes -Host volunteers -Advocate for improved bike and pedestrian infrastructure Our Impact: In 2020, in spite of the pandemic, we were able to: - Give away over 200 bikes to adults in need - Give away over 600 bikes to kids 12 and under - Refurbish an additional 450 bikes as affordable bikes for the community - Host bike-repair clinics - Host volunteers at a safe social distance
