Action for Nature (AFN) is an environmental non-profit that focuses on young people. We encourage youth to gain an awareness and respect for the natural world, and, in particular, to take personal action to protect the environment and to educate others. AFN believes that the long-term health of the planet and all who live on it depends upon reaching young people with this message. Since 2003, we have offered the International Young Eco-Hero Awards. We have recognized and honored over 200 youth aged 8 to 16 years from 20+ countries and 30+ USA states. We continue to track our Eco-Hero alums and receive media requests for several years after our awards have been announced. Media coverage has consisted of radio and TV interviews, printed and electronic news articles, and coverage in school textbooks. Thus the stories of our Eco-Heroes serve to inspire others to take up their own projects and to demonstrate to others how important it is for each of us to live in a sustainable way and to learn more about our fascinating natural world.
