Between Horses and Humans gives able-bodied youth, ages 8 to 26, who are experiencing difficulties in life, personal challenges and social and emotional issues an exciting, meaningful and engaging hands-on experience with horses using positive and fun methods of learning. Not your typical horse therapy program, BHH is an avenue in which the students learn skills for working with horses, other people and themselves. Horse handling translates to life skills. Have you ever seen magic happen before your eyes? Fear turns to confidence, aggression to patience, timidity to self-esteem, and selfishness to kindness. Leadership and communication skills, trust, courage, and compassion are only a few of the magical things that happen with children who are paired with horses in Between Horses and Humans. Unique in its scope and vision, our program empowers children, building their leadership skills and their self-esteem. We witness children changing - becoming more confident, developing a belief in themselves and their decisions, and glowing with the sense of accomplishment. The magic and love of horses help create in children an inner state of calmness and ease from which they can deal with life's challenges and questions.
