The Alliance of Democracies Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former NATO Secretary General and former Prime Minister of Denmark. The Foundation is dedicated to the advancement of democracy and free markets across the globe. The ideal of democracy has come under increasing pressure in recent years. Domestically, the world’s democracies are marred by self-doubt, internal divisions, and a stifling political correctness. Internationally, the democratic world is under threat from rising autocracies and terrorist organizations. The Foundation seeks to meet the urgent need for strengthening the spines of the world’s democracies and will engage in three specific programs to fulfill its mission: 1) Organize an annual conference, The Copenhagen Democracy Summit, bringing together current and former leaders of politics and business to discuss the future of the world’s democracies and of democracy itself. 2) support local entrepreneurship to stabilize aspiring democracies in post conflict areas, and 3) undertake a continuous public relations campaign for the cause of democracy.
