Solarc Energy Group

Solarc Energy Group is a small and nimble firm comprised of eight professionals located in four small offices in Eugene, Portland, Seattle, and Salt Lake City. We provide professional services associated with building energy efficiency analysis, commissioning, and mechanical engineering. All of our work is woven around the thread of energy efficiency, manifest in the experience and perspective of the firm members, Mike Hatten, Eric Knowles, and Devon Guyette. Our historical context is embedded in Mike's history of work in the Pacific Northwest through his predecessor firms - Solarc Architecture and Engineering and Hatten/Johnson Associates. With these and other firms since 1981, Mike has assembled the credentials that place him among the region's originals working with building energy conservation and energy efficiency projects. He has worked with many utilities from the beginning of their demand side management (DSM) programs. Our commissioning resume starts at the emergence of commissioning as a distinct service in the construction market with our first project executed 23 years ago. Our design capabilities reflect Mike's profound understanding of building science and exposure to many hundreds of existing systems in commercial/institutional buildings of all types. We have an especially extensive resume in healthcare, higher education, K-12 schools, and office buildings. Solarc Energy Group is a principled firm that honors relationships formed through past work, shared interests, and common values with our clients and associates. We find meaning in every project, and we strive to deliver value in every endeavor.
