Pocket Pals

www.pocketpalsapp.com

Pocket Pals is a new upcoming app that connects people with wildlife and the environment using their mobile phones. The app will utilise GPS on mobile devices, allowing players to walk and locate digital animals. Players will be encouraged to walk outdoors and collect animals that spawn on the map through a mini game. The animals can then be viewed in the ‘Environments’. By clicking on the animals, users will be taken to a species profile where they can learn about its basic biology. Players can collect ‘Tracks and trails’. Each track will have a set distance that must be walked and the reward will be a rare or high scoring animal. Players can collect items such as lure items and Tracks and trails at ‘Resource stops’. These will be set points on the map, such as Waterloo Station or an Information desk at a reserve. The game will be free to download but as the game progresses, reaching the next level becomes harder and more time consuming. To progress quicker, users can pay for in-game purchases. Pocket Pals has formed partnerships with the RSPB, the Wildlife Trust and the Wetland and Wildlife Trust. These organisations will be assigned a champion animal that will be featured in the game and will aid marketing when released.
