www.absip.co.zaHistory The Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP), was established in 1995 to address the apparent lack of representation of black professionals in the securities and investment industry. As a national body, ABSIP decided to start student chapters across South African universities, in which ABSIP UCT is one of them. The reason as to why the national body started their student chapters is to promote career awareness and professional development initiatives targeted at ABSIP student members, with the aim to better prepare the students for the world of work within the financial services sector. Vision To support the ‘ABSIP Student Chapter ‘to be the lead custodian and agent of youth economic transformation in the financial services sector and the broader economy. Mission - To be the society of first choice for students seeking knowledge about the financial sector. - To actively promote the development of black women professionals. - Bridge the gap between university and the corporate environment, by enabling professional development from a young age. - Create a platform for students to network with professionals and stakeholders in the industry. - Create awareness of the various opportunities available in the industry and enhancing knowledge through information sharing. - Encourage entrepreneurship, innovative thinking and thought leadership.
