GoRead.pk is a non-profit organisation, registered as a Section 42 company. It is a socially conscious, nationwide movement that envisions a Pakistan where ALL children have access to joyful story sessions and books that help them develop a love of reading for pleasure. Our scalable model aims to serve children across Pakistan. We connect trained and registered volunteers with communities of children near their homes or work places. Developmentally and culturally appropriate stories are shared with volunteers via a mobile app. Research proves that student mind-sets such as motivation and self-belief have a great impact on student performance. Through our stories we focus on the elements of Tarbia, Ehsaas and Adab, contributing to children’s character development, building compassion and an appreciation of literature. Our stories will also aim to develop feelings of pride in local communities and cultures of Pakistan as well as emphasise a sense of shared humanity with the world. Joyful story read aloud sessions, followed by discussions will give children a safe space to voice their thoughts and feelings.
