I have been a project manager in the public and private sectors since 2003, and I am more interested than ever in the concept of workflow. How does work get done? Who does what, when? How can complex, multi-layered, cross-departmental projects be broken-down into doable chunks? Most project management consultants will try to answer these questions with tools and technology. They try to impose the newest-and-greatest apps and software on an organization that may not need them and, likely, won’t adopt them. My approach to workflow consultation is different. Workflow starts with you and your team. My job is to figure out what your current workflow processes are, to help you identify what your ideal workflow is, and to get you from one to the other without adding to the daily stress of running your business. Indeed, if I’ve done my job well, you and your team will be less stressed, be more focused and efficient, and have more time for creativity and innovation.
