Led by award-winning educator, innovator and Harvard PhD, Dr. Gavin Samms, Genesis Innovation Academy is a state charter school in south Atlanta serving boys and girls in grades K-10, providing a new model for a higher-standard, values-based education that cultivates scholars from all walks of life to become all they were called to be. We know that focusing on test scores alone is not the endgame when it comes to improving life achievement, prosperity and generational wealth. The Genesis Innovation Academy model goes beyond test scores to inspire innovation, promote purpose, and cultivate character. At Genesis — a free-to-attend, higher-standard state charter school — single gender education is utilized to respect and nurture the confidence and unique learning needs of our scholars. Based on the E5 Core (Economics, Engineering, Ethics, Expression, Entrepreneurship), our curriculum emphasizes comprehension, problem-solving, and real-world, culturally relevant application to ensure scholars become critical thinkers and exceptional leaders. In place of a heightened focus on state test preparation, teachers elevate expectations by engaging scholars in relevant, rigorous, and applied problem-solving. For the 2020 school year, Genesis scholars fell within the top 5 percent of ‘most improved’ testing scores in the state of Georgia.
