NIHERST - Fostering a culture of science, technology, creativity and innovation in Trinidad and Tobago. The National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) was established as a statutory body by Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Act No. 20 of 1984, now Chapter 39:58. Since its establishment, NIHERST has resourcefully pursued its mandate to promote the development of science, technology and higher education in Trinidad and Tobago, and enhance the innovative, creative and entrepreneurial capabilities of the general population. The fulfilment of this mandate has been guided both by changes in national development priorities and government's policy imperatives. NIHERST engages in programmes and events that facilitates learning in Science, technology, research, engineering, art and mathematics (STREAM) through its National Science Centre and through outreach events and delivers projects and resources for children and adults including students, scientists, researchers and policy-makers. Some of our value offerings include science tours at NIHERST’s National Science Centre, Fabrication Lab, Library & Media Centre, Camps, Clubs, Science Forums & Festivals, Innovation Design & Invention Competitions, Policy Research & Intelligence, S & T Surveys & Publications, Video Series & Games and Local & International Collaborations.
