I spent my first five years of my professional career constantly anxious. I rooted my personal self-worth in my perceived success at work, yet I had no barometer of what success looked like to me or a plan to integrate work and life together in a healthy way. I was doing well at work performance-wise, and had a number of professional highlights, but was never satisfied--no matter the role, the manager, or the location. It wasn't until I sought out career development, created personal & professional goals, explored the inner workings of me through therapy, and learned tactics for optimal performance, that I felt satisfied with work, in my personal life, with my relationships with others, and was able to bring the best parts of myself to the office. Moving Mountains is an accelerator for Black college men to equip them for personal and professional alignment in Corporate America’s Fortune 500 companies. The accelerator has four phases, with students being able to access services at whatever stage they need support: Black male college student development programming, internship/job placement based on mutual fit between participant and employer, certified coaching during each internship and the first year on the job, and therapy.
