www.childacaresa.org.zaChild Care South Africa is a community based initiative which seeks to enhance the capacity of families and community structures in traditional councils to provide quality care to children and youth, access relevant government services; protect the dignity of children and develop the self-esteem, talents and skills of children and youth. Child Care South Africa was established in 1995 and was formally registered as Non-profit organisation in August 2000. Major Achievements: Successfully built 60 houses for orphans and vulnerable living in rural community in King Cetshwayo District. This was partnership project with Habitat for Humanity South Africa and King Cetshwayo District. CCSA played a vital role, to profile the households and recruit community volunteer and linked the OVCs to essential services including social grants. Implemented the Child Advocacy Project, funded by Oxfam Australia and Joseph Rowntree Trust, which empowered children and their families on Rights of the Child focusing Child Protection issues. Designed and successfully implemented the Shomies in Action, which Facilitated Health education to 20 000 adolescents in 50 High schools. Provided door to door community HIV Testing and TB Screening in partnership with Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders). Assisted over 5000 youth to do online university applications under our Youth Centre based at our office. Successfully implemented a pilot project funded by the Global Fund through the KZN Provincial Treasury and CINDI from 2017 – 2019. The Cash plus Care project was a pilot programme which looked at incentivized behavioral change amongst young women aged 19 to 24 years.
