Semi-weekly community newspaper, published every Wednesday and Saturday. Primary audience is Wharton County, with emphasis placed on the El Campo and Louise area of West Wharton County. Major sections include general news, sports, lifestyle. The Leader-News consistently wins awards from regional, state and national newspaper associations. Two of its publishers, Fred Barbee and his son Chris Barbee, are past presidents of the Texas Press Association.
