WeTalk Sound is a branch of WeTalk which is focused on applying technology to better the creation and consumption of, as well as conversations on, Nigerian music. Our focus is targeted in 3 core areas: Growing Nigeria's biggest online music community: Currently organically growing a community of hundreds of music-lovers and creatives on IM platforms- Telegram and WhatsApp. We are studying what Nigerian music lovers and artists value in a music community, prior to developing our own applications. Our community maintains a supportive and collaborative culture, creatives from across the country and the diaspora interact, collaborate, critique and support one another. Of course, we 'talk' sound a lot. Creating the best digital content on Nigerian music, and spreading across the web and social media: We are on a mission to create the most celebratory content possible on Nigerian music, and spread them in digital form across the internet and social media channels. Our mission is to 'dissect and celebrate' Nigerian music, so we aim to find and provide insights into the context, meaning, and sound of Nigerian music. Building Nigeria's first music-incubator for independent/unsigned artists: We understand that it is an arduous task trying to be a successful independent artist in Nigeria, we seek to provide an incubatory platform to grow and support independent artistes. We would be connecting them to record labels in Nigeria and abroad, after the incubation period. We would thus become the established receptacle for the most talented young, independent artists Nigeria has to offer.
