AgRefine
www.agrefine.euAgRefine is a European Training Network that training 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) with the necessary skills and knowledge to position Europe as the global leader in developing an agri-bioeconomy industry based on the advanced biorefinery technologies. The integrated training programme will facilitate the amelioration of Europe’s agri-sector competitiveness and environmental sustainability challenges by creating new and optimising current agri-resources and agri-waste valorisation pathways. The ETN will provide training in a number of cross-cutting multidisciplinary and highly interdisciplinary technical subjects areas including chemical and process engineering, biological science, life cycle assessment (LCA) and economies. The ESRs will receive training on adopted RRI principes, project management, communicaiton, presentation and media skills. The project focuses on the design and implementation of novel technologies and systems, comprising of: monitoring-and-control (biosensor); biorefinery; downstream contamination removal (LA purification); and novel high value bio-succinic acid (SA) production. This integrated ‘cascade’ approach is aimed at ensuring that the optimal and thus most valuable valorisation pathway per agri-substrate input is achieved at all time. AgRefine received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 860477
