EQUILL is a Venture Capital Company in Sri Lanka established in August 1990 by an agreement between United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. At USAID’s request, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC. agreed to act as the sponsor or anchor investor of EQUILL. The principal activity of EQUILL is project financing in the form of equity and other corporate debt instruments for new and existing ventures in Sri Lanka, with a high growth potential. To date, the company has invested in Textile, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Services, Trading, Hotel & Tourism, Motor Assembly, Communication, Hydro Power, Micro Financing, Diversified Holdings, Construction and Venture Capital sectors. The Company also engages in monitoring performance and adding value to those companies in which venture capital investments have been made. Apart from the foregoing, we also engage in investing our excess funds in short & medium-term investments such as Treasury Bills, Repurchase Agreements, Commercial Papers, Lease Securitisation, Trust Certificates, purchase and sale of shares, subscribing to private placements and other money market activities.
