Biotechnical centre Naklo is a public educational institution working in the fields of Horticulture, Floristic, Agriculture, Rural Development, Nature Preservation, Dairy processing, Organic Farming, Stockbreeding and Renewable Energy. The centre started out as a Dairy secondary school in 1907, which was the primary programme slowly progressing to the diverse centre existing today in Naklo. In North-West Slovenia (Gorenjska region) Biotechnical centre Naklo has been recognized as one of the main “generators” of development in the region with an important synergic effect not only in the field of education but also in the joint action of economy, employment, scientific and agricultural sector. It is organized in 3 units: 1. Secondary School (Biotechnical Gymnasium, 2‐year vocational education, 3‐year vocational education, 4‐year professional technical education) 2. Vocational College and Research Unit, 3. Inter-Enterprise Educational Centre (Project Office, Adult Education Unit, Shop, Dairy, Practical Workshops). Facilities of the Centre: - 4 ha of school complex, - 22 ha of cultivated land, - Dairy processing facilities, - Laboratories (biotechnological, microbiological, agricultural and technological analyses laboratories), - Practical work facilities-workshops (mechanical, food‐processing, florists, kitchen), - Farm buildings (2 greenhouses, 1 aquaponics greenhouse, stables, manège, orchard, bee houses, fishpond), - Classrooms, lecture rooms, multimedia classrooms, - Shop with local products. Biotechnical Centre Naklo plays an important role at regional, national and international level implementing national and international projects as lead or equal partner in project partnerships. Project Office, in cooperation with other units at the Centre prepares and coordinates projects funded within Erasmus+, ERDF, EARDF, ESF, Interreg, Norway Grands.
