IENE's mission is to promote a broader understanding of the key energy issues in the region and provide a suitable platform for the exchange of views and information - open to professionals, companies, stakeholders and others who are actively involved in the energy sector – thus facilitating cross border cooperation. IENE’ s vision is to become one of the leading energy think tanks in the region and at the same time develop a highly credible and worthwhile range of services covering research, assessment studies, sectorial surveys, information services, educational activities, event organisation and networking. The principal activities of IENE include: Carrying out a broad based programme of research, studies and surveys focusing on energy and environmental issues related to SE Europe. IENE’s research programmes constitute the basis of its scientific work and form an inseparable part of the Institute’s activities. Providing up to- date information on key energy and environmental issues in South-East Europe. This information is provided through the regular publication of newsletters, analyses, research and briefing notes, working papers, conference proceedings and studies made available via the specialized websites administrated by the Institute as well as in printed form. Organizing events such as conferences, workshops, seminars, meetings, and public debates in different locations in SE Europe on subjects related to energy, the environment and sustainable development. IENE also regularly organises educational courses on a variety of topics such as introduction to the energy sector, energy markets operation, energy and geopolitics, energy and the environment, improving energy efficiency of buildings, investing in energy etc.
