Since Carol & Louise Kahn open Kahn's Fine Wines and Spirits in 1979, it has been the destination for wine lovers throughout central Indiana. The store grew out of Louise's love for fine wine, and her inability to find any locally. Tired of driving to Chicago to shop for wine, she convinced her husband to open a fine wine shop. Kahn's grew and prospered under the direction of Carol and Louise until she suffered from declining health in the late 80's. At that point they asked Jim Arnold to join them as a partner. Jim eventually purchased all of Kahn's in the early 90's. Using the experience and knowledge he gained while he was with Kobrand, and his own love for wine and spirits, Jim has been able to take Kahn's to the next level... adding Bordeaux and Burgundy futures and importing well over 1,000 labels exclusively for Kahn's. In 2007 Kahn's moved from its original 2500 sq. ft. location to a new store with over 15,000 square feet... nearly enough room for the 4,000-5,000 different wines 1,800+ different spirits and over 1,100 beers! The year 2010 has seen explosive growth adding a new 15,000 sq. ft. store on the northwest side and Indianapolis and re-opening a downtown icon, Johns Spirits and Decanters, as Kahn's Fine Wine and Spirits in the same, although totally remodeled, 1892 building.
