The mission of South Fayette Township Library is to serve as a civic, social, cultural, and educational center promoting lifelong learning. Library collections and library programming support the types of knowledge essential to success: Basic Literacy, Information Literacy, Civic and Social Literacy, Health Literacy, and Financial Literacy. The library regularly provides a variety of critical services including early learning programs and storytimes for children, adult enrichment programming, readers' advisory, Internet access, technology assistance, and printing and faxing services. South Fayette Township Library is located in South Fayette's municipal building, serving South Fayette residents and surrounding communities. As a member of the Allegheny County Library Association, the library works to promote libraries without borders, supporting and taking part in countywide initiatives. The library's annual operating budget is primarily derived from public or government sources, including the Allegheny County Regional Asset District (RAD), the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and South Fayette Township.
