Ben Hewish - Producer/Director
www.benhewish.comFor over a decade I have been creating content for the television and film industry. I have produced, directed and edit produced 100+ hours of broadcast content for most of the major UK broadcasters. Working across observational documentaries, factual entertainment and studio shows (both prime-time and daytime), I have an exceptional track record in producing/directing, self-shooting and edit producing, both nationally and internationally. Tactful, resourceful and always keen to contribute ideas, I offer new approaches and angles to stories. Once on location I am a proficient self-shooter across many different camera platforms. I have an instinctive skill for spotting stories to produce bold narratives with visual flair, which inform and entertain audiences. As an experienced Director I have worked with many presenters and on-screen talent. I believe that having strong communication and people skills is crucial in getting the best content to screen. Having a great relationship with the production team is also imperative – a happy team will always pull together through the toughest of times whether it is linked to time or budget! Working alone (armed with a C300 and a radio mic) or directing as a part of a large multi-cam set up, I am very adaptable and can think on my feet when out on location. From my experience in factual entertainment I am used to managing large amounts of output on a tight budget and run to a tight schedule. I regularly run multiple edits simultaneously, often in a high-pressure environment. I am a creative scriptwriter, extremely organised and have a sound knowledge of AVID, FCP and Adobe Premier. I have a clear and strong understanding of editorial guidelines and I have experience in journalistic broadcasting.
