Public International Law Litigation Society (PILLS)

pillspucrio.wordpress.com

PILLS (Public International Law Litigation Society) is a student society for public international law studies and moot court practice constituted within the Law Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. PILLS was created by LL.B. students of PUC-Rio, who took their university for the first time to the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Nuremberg Moot Court. Professors Florian Hoffmann and Nadia de Araujo, two internationally renowned jurists who teach in the Law Department, are the group’s advisors and coaches. Other international law and international relations professors of the university also offer academic support, as, besides mooting, PILLS aims to engage in continuous research, writing and debating on international legal themes involving undergraduate and graduate students, as well as academic staff. This is a first in the Law Department, and we have had an impressive first response from students, which reveals a significant interest in international law in the general student population. The Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, PUC-Rio) is a philanthropic private university ranked among the top ten in Latin America and with one of the leading law programmes in the country.
