Anthea was founded in 1992 by Dr. Vincent Paul, a reputed scientist, who, prior to starting Anthea, had done post-doctoral stints in Columbia and Johns Hopkins, before returning to India to join the erstwhile Hindustan Lever (now Unilever India) Research Centre in Mumbai. Anthea believes in growth through partnerships, which is reflected in DRT-Anthea Aroma Chemicals, our 50:50 joint venture with DRT France (now part of Swiss multinational, Firmenich) and Catàsynth Speciality Chemicals, a joint venture with Solvay (Belgium) set up in 2020. In 2016, ICICI Venture Funds Management Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of ICICI Bank, invested in Anthea to partner in its future growth plans.
