Center for Child Study and Protection Foundation (Yayasan Pusat Kajian dan Perlindungan Anak - PKPA) was established on 21 October 1996 in Medan by a number of Civil Society Organization (CSO) activists, lecturers, and college students with Notarial Deed Number 65 of 1998. In order to comply with Law Number 16 of 2001 on Foundations, PKPA administrators were revised and legalized through Notarial Deed Number 52 of 2008. PKPA is registered in Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Republic of Indonesia through Ministerial Decree of Law and Human Rights of Republic of Indonesia Number AHU-4047.AH.01.02 of 2008
