Midsouth Sober Living
www.midsouthsoberliving.orgA nonprofit program founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 2008, MSL offers sober living/transitional housing centers for people who are new in recovery. Safe, affordable and most importantly alcohol/drug-free housing is scarce in Shelby County for individuals who complete inpatient alcohol and drug treatment programs. Our nonprofit agency is unique because we are a community driven entity, with an active board of directors dedicated to providing access to recovery specific housing to all. Our residents come from all areas of Shelby County and the Midsouth and from diverse backgrounds. They are accepted solely on the basis of their willingness to stay sober and follow house rules (paying rent, chores, attending 12 Step meetings, getting along with others, etc.). MSL currently operates three centers â two for women and one for men. These facilities, conveniently located near the MATA bus lines, offer 48 individuals a place to live while embarking on a new start in life. Each facility has an on-site manager to provide assistance and guidance. Basic rules are in place to provide a safe, sober environment and to encourage the freedom to work, cook meals, own a car, attend 12 Step meetings, and take care of other essential needs. Surrounded by others with the same common goal, MSL residents experience independent living within the context of ongoing support. MSL's sober communities reduce the risk of relapse and enable residents to once again become productive members of society.
