Free The Girls
www.freethegirls.orgFree The Girls is an organization that exists to help women exiting sex trafficking reintegrate into their communities. A survivor doesn't become truly free simply by gaining distance from their trafficker. We partner with individuals and organizations to work with survivors of trafficking and help answer the question of "What happens next?" The goal of “true freedom” is holistic freedom - in employment, health, social well-being, and personal development. We collect new and gently used bras and send them to our program partners in Mozambique, El Salvador and Costa, where formerly trafficked women get to start their own business selling them in the local markets. Your donated bras are the inventory for these budding entrepreneurs in Africa and Central America to have a safe and viable form of employment as they transition from oppression into the rest of their lives. Economic insecurity has devastating consequences on the lives of survivors of sex trafficking and your amazing collection of bras provides dignity without dependency for the women in our program. With an estimated 80% of trafficking survivors at risk of being re-exploited due to the lack of sustainable economic opportunities, our entrepreneurship program provides these women a choice rather than re-victimization.
