The initiative “United Against Waste” (UAW) was founded in Austria in 2014 by a multi-stakeholder platform including government entities (eg. Federal Ministry of Austria for Climate Action or the City of Vienna), companies from the food industry, non-governmental and scientific organisations as well as food service companies (eg. Sodexo, GMS Gourmet). Its goal is to reduce food waste in the Austrian food service sector and out-of-home-consumption.
