ERM's goal is to add green lithium battery recycling capability and capacity to the domestic supply chain. Globally it is estimated that only between 1-5% of used lithium batteries are recycled, with the balance discarded and disposed of in landfills, creating not only environmental contamination, but millions of tons of wasted valuable and finite materials, which could be recycled/ upcycled for reuse in the manufacturing of new lithium batteries.
