Western Fairfax Christian Ministries

www.wfcmva.org

Formed in 1987 by members of 12 Chantilly and Centreville churches, WFCM provides compassionate, life-essential services to reduce hunger and the risk of homelessness among residents of western Fairfax County with financial need. In spite of its status as one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, there is still significant need in Fairfax County. Almost 75,000 county residents live below poverty (defined as an annual income of $23,850 for a family of four) and another 181,000 live at or below 200% of poverty ($47,700 annual income for a family of four). Because of the high cost of living, low-income households find it particularly challenging to meet their basic needs of food, housing, and medical care. For over 30 years, WFCM has been a critical safety net for those struggling to make ends meet. We provide emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, and other basic needs; food assistance through our “client choice” food pantry and holiday food program; financial counseling and budgeting classes; a school backpack program; and spiritual support. WFCM serves individuals and families of all ages, religions, and nationalities from the communities of Chantilly, Centreville, Clifton, Fairfax Station, and Fair Oaks. We are grateful to our volunteers, church partners, local grocery stores, Fairfax County, the United Way of the National Capital Area, foundation grantors, and business and individual donors whose generous gifts make our work possible.
