Dumbarton Concerts
www.dumbartonconcerts.orgDumbarton Concerts has presented chamber and jazz music in the heart of Georgetown for almost forty years. Considered a well-kept secret by devoted music lovers, the candlelit sanctuary of historic Dumbarton United Methodist Church is the perfect setting in which to enjoy chamber music on the intimate scale its composer intended. We seek to present both established performers as well as cultivating and advancing the careers of young and, as-yet, little known artists. We work with local, national and international musicians and we also regularly commission and present new works. We endeavor, furthermore, to keep our ticket prices affordable. In addition to presenting events we also run Inner City-Inner Child which creates and delivers arts integration and early childhood education programs to low-income, community-based Child Development Centers throughout Washington, D.C. ICIC provides innovative arts and literacy programs and book donations for under served preschool children, professional development workshops and literacy trainings for their early childhood teachers and directors, and family literacy workshops for parents. All of these programs work to create an environment that supports school readiness for the neediest children in our Nation’s Capital by introducing teachers and children to the power of integrating the arts with academics. By helping centers become accredited, and stay accredited by the National Association for the Accreditation Education of Young Children (NAEYC), ICIC improves the quality of early childhood education in the District. Inner City-Inner Child has its own website: www.innercity-innerchild.org
